    10 Summary An easy-to-open closing device for a container, especially a can for solids and liquids. The closing device comprises a lid (1) for attachment to the wall (2) of the can, the upper part of the can having an external bending edge (3). The lid (1) has a cup-shaped end (4) which is adapted to the bending edge (3). The end (4) has a circular inner end (5) which, when fitted with a lid (1), is located below and presses against the bending edge (3) and biases the arcuate end (4) against the bending edge (3). When fitting the lid (1), a lock is thus formed between the lid (1) and the wall (2) of the can by the inner end (5) slipping over the outer part of the bending edge (3). To improve the seal between the bending edge (3) and the arcuate end (4) of the lid (1), the end (4) is provided with an insert (6) of plastic material, such as PVC. (Fig. 3)

    Figure 3 shows a broken sectional side view on a larger scale of the can wall 2 with the lid 1 fitted in figure 2. The upper part of the wall 2 has a substantially circular external bending edge 3.
    The lid has a substantially arcuate end 4 which is adapted to the bending edge 3 to form a tight connection. The arcuate end 4 has a substantially circular inner end 5 which is located below and which presses against the bending edge 3, and thus biases the arcuate end 4 against the bending edge 3. When fitting the lid 1, a lock is thus formed between the lid 1 and the wall 2 of the can by the inner end 5 sliding over the outer part of the bending edge 3.
    It has been found that the optimum bias occurs when the angle d in Figure 3 is approximately 49 °. The angle α is defined as the angle that a straight line through the center of the circular end 5 and the center of the circular deflection edge 3 forms with a horizontal plane.
    To improve the seal between the bending edge 3 and the arcuate end 4 of the lid 1, the arcuate end 4 is provided with an insert 6 of plastic material, such as PVC.
    In order to make the opening of the lid 1 easier, the end 4 of the lid, as shown in Figures 4-5, has on the outside at the inner end 5 a projection 7 which forms a gap 8 which can be used by a tool for opening. .
